Hollywood Road Trip Blog
Washington State University students Steve Thorpe and Katie Yeager will be traveling to Los Angeles from Seattle to interview a number of WSU alumni and industry professionals.
As part of the project “With a Degree from the Murrow School You Can Go Anywhere!” the two communication students will interview between 15 and 30 people throughout the course of their 10-day trip which will begin Friday, July 13.
Some of the communication professionals they plan on interviewing inculde Kathi Goertzen of KOMO TV; Jeff Payne, VP of International Programming for E! Entertainment; Scott Hallock, co-founder of Hallock Healey; Mike Harney, executive producer for “Scare Tactics” and “Breaking up with Shannon Doherty;” as well as WSU alumni working for “Prom Queen,” “Top Chef” and “The Amazing Race.”

The students will be documenting their trip and interviews through a “live-blog” at http://murrow-blog.com. Dates and locations for the interviews will be updated on the blog.
Thorpe said that they have posted the interviews form the first portion of their trip to Seattle and Portland which they completed over winter break. Thorpe and Yeager will also be providing a video podcast which will be available at the iTunes Music Store, Podcast Alley, PodPlanet, Technorati, and their own Web site. The podcast will contain a mini-documentary of their trip, as well as clips from all of their interviews.
The trip has been funded by the Dean Lear’s Excellence Fund.
