Greetings from Director Austin
It is my privilege to welcome you to the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, where faculty, students and staff carry on the legacy of our most famous graduate and one of broadcast journalism's most important pioneers. A Murrow School education emphasizes the importance of ethically driven communication, supported by a foundation of skills, creativity and courage.
Our students hone their skills in a wide variety of state-of-the-art writing, production and research labs. Our graduates go on to innovative careers in advertising, broadcasting, journalism, organizational communication, public relations and communication research. Our alumni serve as leaders in a wide array of communication professions and nurture other Cougars by visiting classes, offering internships and scholarships, and by helping the School stay at the cutting edge of industry developments. Many alumni and friends of the School also help through their generous financial support. Students who study at the Murrow School can gain real-world experience in television, radio, advertising, print journalism, public relations, research and public service campaigns from the moment they step onto our campus.
Each year, the Edward R. Murrow Symposium brings extraordinary achievers to campus, such as Christiane Amanpour, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Bernard Shaw, and Daniel Schorr. We are honored to have you visit us via this web site, and we would be delighted to have you visit us in Pullman.
Best wishes,
Erica Weintraub Austin
Interim Director
