Communication Area of study:__
My undergraduate degree was in Communication with an emphasis on Broadcast News here at WSU. Ultimately I am interested in entering the radio broadcasting world in both an on air and behind the scenes roll. Yet I am also interested in media research and eventually hope to obtain my PhD and teach broadcasting.
While pursuing my Master’s degree, I am interested in studying how media law and media ethics intersect. I want to see how media law affects the quality of work put out by journalists and how the ethics of journalism influence media law. For instance, if a reporter/organization was not as concerned with legal consequences what would happen to journalism ethics? Would lessening legal confines increase ethical practices? Or are more laws required to enforce ethical standards? I’m also an avid traveler and have a slight interest in media law and ethics in other cultures and countries around the world.
