WSU Advertising Club is a great way for students to come together and explore their interest in the field of advertising. Whether you are an advertising major, business major, or any other major, you are welcome to come join the fun and build your portfolio. The Ad Club works as a small-scale ad agency serving local clients, visits agencies on the West Coast bi-annually, and provides networking opportunities with advertising professionals.

The Association for Women in Communications is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all communication disciplines since 1909.  It recognizes excellence, promotes leadership and positions members at the forefront of the evolving communications era.  The WSU chapter helps prepare women for various communication fields by fostering networking opportunities through job shadows and guest speakers. It also emphasizes community service, participating in such programs as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The WSU/AWC chapter has been recognized nationally nine times for excellence, including Outstanding Chapter in the Nation, Outstanding Fundraiser and Outstanding Chapter. Cable 8 Productions, WSU's award-winning student-run television station, gives students the opportunity to apply their skills to create, produce, direct, and air their own original programs. Students gain extensive hands-on experience in television production, operations, sales, promotion, and management. Students working on Cable 8 programs will use a wide variety of field and studio equipment including: DV Cameras, Sony Optical video disk recorders, Avid and Final Cut Pro editing systems. Whether you want to produce a documentary, direct a music video, or just want to be part of our awesome sales department, Cable 8 is always on the lookout for energetic, dedicated, and creative people! No experience is necessary, and all majors are welcome.

The goal of the WSU Chapter of SPJ is to provide opportunities for students to participate in online broadcast and print journalism-related activities on and off campus, develop relevant skills, network with professional journalists, and get internships and jobs. Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry; works to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press. The national organization has a membership of 10,000 journalists across the country.

KUGR is an on-campus radio station that provides local and worldwide listeners with a wide variety of rock music over the internet.  KUGR is operated by a Board of Directors, selected annually. Day-to-day operations are done by our numerous on-air personalities from the Pullman campus. KUGR features hourly news from the BDCST 365 – News and Public Affairs for Radio class.  KUGR also broadcasts sports live!  Open to all majors.

The National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) for 2006 is an integrated market communications plan for Yahoo, the web portal. Washington State University will compete with 141 colleges/universities nationwide to develop a campaign targeting 13-17 year olds in an effort to increase overall unique visits/participation in Yahoo.

Our Edward R. Murrow College of Communications team representing Washington State University consists of eleven (11) students who were selected on the basis of competitive application.

The Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management at WSU provides several networking opportunities to connect its student membership with HR practitioners from around the Northwest. SHRM is the largest HR association in the world and Washington State University is proud to be an affiliated collegiate chapter. The Washington State University Chapter in Pullman has a growing partnership with INSHRM (Inland Northwest SHRM Local Chapter in Spokane) and NSHRMA (Northwest SHRM Association) as well honing in on collaborative opportunities with the SHRM chapter at WSU-Vancouver. The SHRM student chapter provides an opportunity for students in the Organizational and Applied Intercultural Communication programs to gain valuable and relevant experience. Pathways that student members may find applicable careers could include working in Organizational Behavior, Training, Employee Development, Organizational Development, Benefits and Compensation, Recruitment and Staffing, Leadership, Ethics and Sustainability, Labor Relations, Event Planning and much more.

Founded in 1987, RTNDA's Student Chapter Affiliate Program fosters closer cooperation and improves communication among students, educators and working professionals in radio and television news. Members have special learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom which instill a commitment to the highest ideals and principles of the practice of electronic journalism.
